How to Disable Teams on Startup

If you’ve installed Microsoft Teams and wish to prevent it from loading at startup, you can turn off auto-start within the app itself. This article will show you how to force-remove the app from your computer’s startup sequence. It will also show you how to uninstall two separate Microsoft Teams applications. Hopefully, this will make the process easier and safer for you. We’ll be back soon with more detailed instructions.

Remove Microsoft Teams from the startup sequence

If you’d like to remove Microsoft Teams from your computer’s startup sequence, you can do so by following a few simple steps. First, you’ll need to make sure that the program is not automatically starting when you turn on your computer. To do so, simply click on the “Automatically start this program” option, and uncheck the “Open application in the background” checkbox. Next, disable Microsoft Teams in Windows Task Manager. To do so, right-click the Start menu icon and choose Task Manager. Next, click the “Startup” tab. In the Startup tab, select “Microsoft Teams”, and then click Disable.

Next, you’ll need to locate the purple icon for Microsoft Teams. It should be in the system tray or notification area. The taskbar may obscure the icon. If you have trouble finding the icon, open the Settings app. There, select ‘Do Not Auto-Start Teams’. Now, go to Quit to close Microsoft Teams. Then, you’ll no longer see it during startup. And that’s it! Your computer will no longer be booted automatically when Microsoft Teams is open.

Turn off auto-start within the app

If you wish to prevent Microsoft Teams from starting up on your computer, you can turn it off by going to the Startup menu in the Windows 10 Settings app. The Startup tab is a part of the Task Manager and allows you to manage the default programs Windows starts when it boots up. To disable Teams from starting automatically, click on the Disable button in the lower right corner of the dialog. To re-enable Teams’ auto-start feature, repeat the process.

Alternatively, you can uncheck the “Open application when closing” and “Keep the app running when my computer shuts down” checks. This way, Teams won’t start automatically whenever I shut down my computer, causing it to slow down. By unchecking these two settings, you can avoid Teams from opening on startup and minimized on your computer, preventing it from interrupting your work. Turning off this feature may cause your computer to run slower, but it’s worth it if you have this feature turned off.
